Sean Johnson – Owner

I’ve been fortunate enough to call the Olympic Peninsula home for over 33 years. In those 33 years, we’ve seen many fitness fads pop up (trust me I’ve tried them!) but I can promise you CrossFit does not fall into this category. I tried my first CrossFit class through the YMCA back in 2009 and was immediately humbled by how a short complete, ever-changing workout could transform my body! Anyone who knows me knows how passionate I have been ever since to this LIFE change called CrossFit.

Having a military background and a love for coaching sports and other activities, CrossFit felt like I was finally finding my fitness answer. As any of our members will be able to attest, CrossFit has the ability to change you physically AND emotionally! I’ve had the honor of personally helping others to achieve these life transformations and I can’t wait to add YOU to our Storm King family!!! As you will see, our members are truly like a second family- supportive and always willing to lend a hand. They’ve improved my life hopefully as much as I’ve improved theirs!

Dawn Mason – Owner

I became Level 1 certified in 2011, and have since had the privilege of watching many athletes and families in our community get fit and healthy. I have a sincere desire to help improve the quality of my client’s overall fitness and nutrition, because physical health spills over into all other facets of life. I am very eager to gain more knowledge and continue my CrossFit education.

I am proud to call my fellow Storm King athletes my family. We sweat together, learn together, cheer and encourage each other together, cry together, succeed and fail together. We are from all walks of life, all ages, and come in all shapes and sizes…but we are family.

Adrianne Rygaard – Owner

I came upon CrossFit in my 30’s and when I think of it I am the last person I would expect to do CrossFit. I was a mom of four young kids who had reached a crossroads. I needed to change my life in a big way, to keep up with my kids, to enjoy my family, and to live my life. For me, a big reason to CrossFit is because of my faith and the realization that I have one life and I needed to be a good steward of my body so that I could live that life fully. I often tell people that if I can do it, anyone can do it!

My coaching career came about with the urging of my coach at the time. I began working with adults and completed my CrossFit Level 1 and my CrossFit Kids trainer course. It was shortly after that I began to coach teens and kids. What I love most about coaching adults as well as kids is being able to see people succeed. It is a great privilege to help people meet and exceed their goals.

Rob Mason – Coach

Fight Gone Bad. My first introduction to Crossfit. I can't honestly say I was hooked after one workout, but I was interested for sure. Over four years later, I'm still here, and I do love it. I am grateful for the changes and improvements Crossfit has brought about in my life and my family's lives (ask to see chubby Rob pics ), but what I really love and what drives me as a coach is the 70 year old grandmother that does multiple rope climbs in a WOD, or the athlete that loses 50+ pounds because of his commitment to SKCF. As a coach, what excites me is watching any athlete "get it", whether it's a young guy back squatting 405 lbs. or a brand new athlete that jumps onto the 12" box for the first time. I am proud every day to be a part of this great community at SKCF, to learn more and to push our athletes to be better. And really, who doesn't like to pick up heavy stuff?!

Beata Cole – Coach

My first introduction to CrossFit was the CrossFit Endurance Certification that I attended while training for a marathon. I have been hooked on CrossFit ever since and it became part of my everyday life. Each workout brings something new and provides a challenge. The workouts are not about what your body looks like, but what your body can do. It is less about how much weight you are losing and more about how much weight you are lifting. I love to coach and motivate others. Helping people find passion for fitness and healthier lifestyle is very empowering to me.

As a trainer, I continuously strive to hone my skills and training techniques with the latest methods and developments.

Sean Slowey – Coach

My fitness background before CrossFit is pretty typical- I sat around eating junk food and thinking people that worked out were nuts.

In 2010, after being hounded by a coworker for a few months, I finally broke down and checked out this crazy workout thing she was doing. I was hooked from my very first WOD.

I've been with our affiliate since the beginning and grew right along with our box and it has been one of the most impactful things in my life. I went from having never ran a full mile to running a 6 minute mile. Not being able to do a pull up to doing strict muscle ups. I've achieved many personal milestones that I never would have dreamed of.

I got the coaching bug when I started helping out with our Oly Lifting class and after a while I was asked (told that I had no choice!) to become a full blown coach. It's been a pretty amazing ride and I enjoy watching my athletes progress just like I did. It's definitely one of the highlights of my life.

Dan Roening – Coach

I started CrossFit in 2010 at the age of 56 and have enjoyed it ever since. Ii was looking for direction in my fitness and CrossFit was It.

I became level one certified in 2014. For me, helping people go from "I don't know if I can do that", to "I will" is the most rewarding part. I love what StormKing strives for. Community Through Fitness. I am proud to be part of such a great dedicated coaching staff.

Brian Winter – Coach

I grew up in Fresno, California and attended Humboldt State University in Northern California and the University of Washington in Seattle. I arrived in Port Angeles in 1985, and fell in love with the area right away. The mountains, lakes, streams and the sea offer an endless supply of opportunities and motivation to be active. I had been active in terms of running, mountain hiking, weight lifting, and racquetball, but it wasn't until I began my CrossFit journey that I saw both my weight and blood pressure drop and my overall sense of well being improve. I am committed to doing the best I can, but more importantly I want to do the very best for our athletes. It is so very satisfying seeing people progress in their own fitness and being able to help them along the way. I am the oldest coach at StormKing CF, which only reinforces my dedication to helping each athlete find their own particular comfort level with weights and movements, scaling as needed as I do. We will progress together, as we reach our goals and set new ones!

Annie James – Coach

I started Crossfit in 2014, quickly it became the highlight of my day and has remained so. To put it simple the community and level of fitness achieved, both personally and witnessed in others, has changed my life. I love seeing athletes come in after a stress filled day and channel negative energy into something positive for themselves while connecting to people who support and truly care about them. This is a daily experience for me as a coach and athlete at SKCF.

Currently I am coaching in the background of my other careers. I would say that it is a combination of all of my passions and brings together various life experiences. I am excited to continue to both learn and teach as a coach at SK Crossfit. I believe to truly be good at something you must always remain a student.

Alicia Potswald – Yoga Instructor

II have been actively teaching Yoga and fitness classes for the last 8 years. I earned my Yoga Alliance Certificate through Yoga Adventure on the Big Island of Hawaii. Earning 200 hour and 500 hour level of certification in a variety of formats. I specialize in therapeutic Yoga, ashtanga, vinyasa, yin and pranayama techniques.

I travel back to Hawaii every year to be an assistant coach/teacher to help lead and teach the 200 hour level curriculum. I have had the opportunity to create, co-create and lead wellness workshops and retreats in Washington, Hawaii and at Bastyre University.

I’m a recent graduate of Port Townsend School of Massage, specializing in anatomy and kinesiology.
